Employees of the department joined the celebration of International Girls’ Day in ICT

Employees of the MTS Department Valeria Chumak, Natalia Boyko, Iryna Svyd joined the celebration of the International Girls’ Day in ICT on April 22, 2021: 10 hours about women in IT.
The event was held by CSR Ukraine, an expert organization of the Center for CSR Development, and its initiative #GirlsSTEM in honor of International Girls’ Day in ICT. The event was organized within the framework of the UNFPA project “Springboard for Equality”, the United Nations Population Fund in Ukraine with the financial support of Sweden. The partner of the event is the national project “Diya. Digital Education ”of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.International Girls ’Day in ICT is a global initiative aimed at raising awareness among girls and young women about the importance of digital skills and encouraging them to study and build careers in ICT. The holiday is celebrated annually on the 4th Thursday of April.
The field of information and communication technologies (ICT) continues to grow rapidly and opens up new opportunities for professional development for girls and women, but the gender imbalance in the field of ICT still persists. According to Eurostat data for 2019, women make up only 17.9% of ICT workers in the EU. However, the situation in Ukraine is not better, because according to the international education quality survey PISA-2018, only 3% of surveyed girls in Ukraine want to work in ICT-related areas.
The event presented: inspiring stories, an interactive workshop, discussions with ICT experts from leading Ukrainian and international companies, valuable advice on starting a career and women’s leadership in ICT, quizzes, competitions, etc.
