May 8 – Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation

Today in Ukraine, as well as in the world, the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation is dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Second World War.In Ukraine, the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation is established in accordance with the Law of Ukraine “On Perpetuation of the Victory over Nazism in the Second World War of 1939-1945”. Thus, Ukraine began a new tradition of celebrating May 8 and 9 in the European spirit of remembrance and reconciliation.
But for Ukraine and Ukrainians this year, “Never Again” sounds different, because of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. On February 24, 2022, at 4 am, the word “never” was erased, and hundreds of missiles fired by Russian invaders disappeared under the explosions. Ukraine and the whole world saw it “again”
Remembrance and Reconciliation Day is a reminder of a terrible catastrophe and a warning for the future.
Never again.
Remember, we win.
