The branch team, based at the Department of Telecommunications Systems, submitted a report on its activities for the 2023-2024 academic year, thereby confirming the branch’s status and obtaining a confirming certificate. Branch coordinators summarized the results of the past year and created a plan of initiatives for the upcoming year. The #GirlsInSTEM branch at the Department of Telecommunications Systems has been operating since 2020, annually confirming its status.

The “Girls in STEM” branch actively promotes gender equality and sustainable development at the university’s SDGS. Its activities, carried out within the framework of the “Equality Gateway” project with the support of the Swedish government, are an important step towards creating a conducive environment for women in the field of science and technology. Initiatives introduced by the branch help expand opportunities for women in STEM fields and contribute to increasing their representation in scientific and technical positions.

As of January 2024, Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics holds the 6th position among 299 Ukrainian higher educational institutions, rising from 7th place in 2023. Globally, KhNURE occupies the 2427th place, in Europe – 853rd, and leads among Kharkiv universities.

Webometrics evaluates the performance of more than 32,000 universities worldwide based on three indicators:

1. Visibility – the number of external sources containing backlinks to the university’s web pages, calculated using Ahrefs and Majestic indicators – 50%.
2. Transparency – the number of citations in top author profiles of the university according to Google Scholar Citations – 10%.
3. Excellence – the number of articles included in the top 10% most cited according to Scimago calculations – 40%.

KhNURE ranks 8th in the Excellence indicator.

It’s worth noting that this is the first edition of the ranking with institutional identifiers RoR. Considering the declared goal of the ranking – promotion of open science, the organizers decided to support the RoR initiative and continue to use RoR identifiers in their own database.

The aim of the course is to promote the development of entrepreneurial potential among young people, prepare them for a successful career in the startup and entrepreneurship field, and stimulate innovative thinking and economic growth.

Topics covered in the course include:

1. Introduction to the course. Presentation of the startup competition.
2. Modern trends in startups worldwide.
3. Methods of generating ideas and validating them for success.
4. Consumer values and how to create a blue ocean.
5. Types of entrepreneurship (social, innovative, scalable startup entrepreneurship). Licensed and unlicensed activities. Basics of intellectual property law.
6. Basics of accounting, reporting, and tax regulation of entrepreneurship, registration of individual entrepreneurs, digital tools, EDS, banking system.
7. Digital entrepreneurship ecosystem.
8. Business planning for startups.
9. Marketing when entering the market with a startup.
10. Social media as a tool for startup development.
11. Modern fundraising methods.
12. Business models.
13. Prototyping and scaling of startups.
14. Presentation of a startup to investors and entering the market.
15. Gender equality in the professional sphere.

The university team included Alexander Datsenko, a graduate student from the Department of MTS (Faculty of Infocommunication and Radio Engineering), Yevheniy Levchenko, a graduate student from the Department of MEEPP (Faculty of Electronics and Biomedical Engineering), Olga Kravchuk, a lecturer from the Department of FOET (Faculty of Opto-telecommunication and Electronic Technology), and Alexander Gnatyenko, the head of the FOET department.

Approximately 50 teams participated in the hackathon, with 8 advancing to the final stage. During the event, students from various courses presented 7 hardware projects. The team from Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics secured the 5th place with the project “WarTechWizards – Drone Finder Pro.”

The “Drone Finder Pro” search device offers innovative solutions to problems related to finding lost drones. Some of its key features include:

1. Activation based on scenarios such as GPS coordinates, radio signals, altitude, and battery status.
2. The signal with coordinates can be sent to a radio, mobile receiver, or the included base station. The beacon also supports visual (blue and IR) and sound indication.
3. Calibration and status check: Support for accelerometer and barometer calibration, as well as the ability to check GPS status, signal level, and other parameters, ensuring confidence that the Drone Finder Pro will accurately perform the assigned task.

The system is built on the ARM architecture and consists of three parts: the beacon, the base station, and the mobile application.

Representatives from the business and partners included Renesas, Octava Defence, T-Spark, Epam, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
